1993, East Germany. On a bed of flowering branches and the body covered with Germanic runes – this is how a girl’s corpse is found in a lonely forest near Wussnitz. Inspector Ulrike Bandow and her new West German colleague Koray Larssen take on the case together. Mysterious clues lead the unequal pair of detectives into the German-German past, where they stumble upon a previously undiscovered, bizarre series of murders. Now the killer has returned, to the place where it all began. To stop him, the detectives must learn to trust each other. But that’s not easy, because Larssen has an agend of his own, and Ulrike’s personal guilt leads to a deep abyss into which she never wanted to look…
